Rich Hawk heads our office and design department. Rich has 27 years experience with Farrs. He has been a designer at Farrs since 1979 and its president since 1987. Rich graduated from Penn State in 1977 with a B.S. in Landscape Architecture. He has served on many PLNA committees at the chapter and state levels. He is very active on the talk circuit for garden clubs, church groups, and extension meetings. For 3 years -- he hosted a weekly radio talk show called "Landscape Talk with the Hawk", and is looking forward to restarting the show on Reading's WEEU radio 830AM beginning on march 18th and running every Sunday from noon until 1:00 pm.

Jessica Mock, a member of the design team graduated from Delaware Valley College with a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture and Environmental Design, and has been with Farrs for the past 8 years.

Carol Palmer manages our office. Carol has worked at Farrs for the past 6 years and also has experience with our retail nursery center. Your calls and questions get answered year round by real people.. imagine that!. This is one of our customer service details which we feel is a critical aspect of our business.

Laurie Caldwell manages our nursery center. With 13 years experience here -- Laurie's expertise ranges from identifying insect and disease problems on customer plant samples, to designing "Do-it-Yourself" plans for homeowners.

Barry Speicher with 27 years experience and Mike Steffe with 6 years experience assist Laurie in guiding you to proper plant selections.

Our installation department is comprised of 3 foremen, 3 right-hand men, and 3 crewmen. Doug Zechman with 29 years experience here is a planting and construction foreman. Doug is also a PA certified Landscape Technician. Ricardo Burgos with 23 years experience here is also a planting and construction foreman. Jay Stormfeltz with 9 years experience with us is a planting foreman and maintenance technician.

Our landscape crew is comprised of Jeff Riegel (16 years), Steve Reynolds (9 years), John Freeman III (7 years) and, Ricky Wike (5 years).

Our plant care and grounds manager is David Moodhart with 34 years experience with Farrs.

•    In Pennsylvania, any business that sells plants (grown by them or purchased from a wholesaler) must be registered and licensed by the PA Department of Agriculture. They can provide a copy of the certificate for you upon request.
  
  
•    Any business applying herbicide, insecticide, fungicide or fertilizer to a lawn or shrub bed also needs to be licensed by the PA Department of Agriculture. This licensing assures you that the person applying the products has been trained, and is supervised by a licensed individual at that business. Properly licensed businesses must have their registration number displayed in 3" letters/numbers on both sides of their vehicle. In Pennsylvania all registration numbers begin with the letters "BU"
  
  
•    Any contractor working on your property should carry insurance and it is your right to request a copy of the certificate of insurance as proof
  
  
•    In Pennsylvania neither landscape designers nor installation technicians need to be certified; however, formal training in design and/or years of experience certainly add to the credibility and expertise of the company and to your peace of mind in knowing the job will be done right!
